Meme, Aunt Mary, and I drove up to Canyon this weekend for my little brother Will's graduation. From Houston it's about a ten hour drive, the last and seemingly longest hours being on the endless stretches of highway between small towns once you hit the Panhandle. The drive is always worth it, though, as soon as we pull into the driveway at my parents' house. That's when the good times begin!
Right now living at our house are my parents, Will and Abby, three dogs, six cats, and a tank full of fish. We joke that the Walker household is a zoo, because as much as we love our furry family members (and they are family members), it can get a little crazy at times! And of course the craziness doubles on special days like today--my brother's graduation--when all our extended family and friends are added to the mix!
Really, I love every moment of these weekends; they always go by way too fast. This weekend I was lucky to spend time with my family and extended family before and after graduation, as well as have dinner with one of my best friends Tarah and have tea with our close family friends Johnie and Linda. As always there just wasn't enough time to go around, but better to have such good friends and so little time than to have no friends and too much time!
Will moves down to Houston to start his new job at NASA the first week of June, and Abby will move down mid-August to begin student teaching. I am so excited that soon our time together won't be confined to a few rushed weekend visits a year. They'll be just minutes away instead of hours!
Now we just have to get our parents to move down...
Life's better when we're together.
