Since we've been engaged (and maybe even before that!), we've been eager to choose where we'll go for our honeymoon. At first we looked into Machu Picchu in Peru... I've always wanted to go, Brent was hoping for something off the beaten path, so it seemed like the perfect idea... but as it turns out, it's very expensive to go to Peru and on top of airfare and accomodations, we'd also need to invest some serious hiking gear. So we decided we'll wait on that adventure...
So then, being budget-conciencious, we thought we'd keep an eye on Groupon Getaways. We watched Groupon in June. We watched Groupon in July. We watched Groupon in August. And we continued to watch Groupon throughout most of September. Four months we watched Groupon, and four months we would see advertisements with beautiful pictures, get excited, and click the link - only to see in fine print that travel had to be completed prior to the holidays OR that the deal was eligible for any week EXCEPT the week of our honeymoon.
We started to feel a little defeated not having much flexibility in budget or dates, but Brent suggested that we check out Kayak.com. Through Kayak, we found Latin Destinations, and we were able to build an all-inclusive getaway to Costa Rica on the dates we wanted within a price we could afford. Needless to say, we are very excited! We'll be spending most of the week in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica at The Parador Resort and Spa. (I'm highly amused that both our wedding venue and our honeymoon resort are both named The Parador... ) I went to Manuel Antonio when I studied abroad in college, but we were only able to stay for a day. And though it was a wonderful day, I know that it will be that much better to go and experience the beach, the jungle, and the animals with Brent. Because it's always better together. :)
